For Hospitals

Critical Care Medicine is a specialty that involves the management of patients with complex and life threatening illness or injury.

THE WEST COAST CRITICAL CARE SPECIALISTS FOOTPRINT

24/7 Support & Care

Our Intensivist Programs partner with facilities to bring the highest caliber of medicine to every critical care patient, 24 hours a day.

Board-Certified Specialists

Our facilities are staffed exclusively with board-certified/eligible intensivists. This means that all of our physicians have undergone rigorous subspecialty fellowship training in the treatment of a facility’s sickest and most vulnerable patients.

We offer a turnkey solution; effecting change through involved, collaborative leadership.

Education

Continuing education is an integral component of maintaining ICU efficiency. Our physicians are actively involved in nursing and ancillary staff education. Our focus involves areas that impact mortality and morbidity. These include, sepsis, ventilator liberation, HACs, ICU LOS, early mobility and glycemic control.

Patient and family satisfaction is another key area of strong focus. Daily updates for patients and families, as well as understanding the patient’s health care wishes, have helped us maintain top satisfaction scores.

Leadership

Our Leadership Team works in close concert with all levels of Hospital Administration and Quality to ensure goals are aligned. By working on real-time continuous quality improvement projects, we help the hospital with national benchmarks such as those set forth by Leapfrog and Hospital Compare.

Following evidence-based medicine, we set our own internal goals to insure that care is up to date. We consistently work with hospital stakeholders and medical staff on new initiatives, and bring the latest evidence-based care to the bedside.

All members of our team serve as leaders championing ongoing patient centered goals. Regular meetings and data evaluation ensures our goals are aligned. Our open, transparent, and multifaceted approach allows for close collaboration with hospital administration. Ongoing evaluation enables us to assess progress and goals and make changes as needed.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

The key driver in achieving our goals has been a multi-faceted approach. This has included the establishment of a structure to coordinate twice-daily multidisciplinary rounding, actively engaging patients and families in treatment planning, and initiating early mobility, daily sedation vacations and other protocols in the units. These efforts translate to greater ICU efficiency and enhanced throughput to ensure that the hospital does not go on diversion due to lack of critical care beds.

Our multidisciplinary process has been regarded as a best practice by CMS, Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG), and Dignity Health. Our innovative, comprehensive multidisciplinary tool has been adopted throughout our hospital system’s EHR.

“Daily rounds by a multidisciplinary team are associated with lower mortality…”
